Kieran's Toybox

This is a toy box that made with my grandfather for my nephew, Kieran. The design of the shape of the box was based on a toy box my uncle had when he was a kid. The dimensions are the same but his had paintings of cowboys on it. When testing how I would combine stained and unstained parts of the wood, I discovered gel stain. This is a type of stain that is thicker and has much less bleeding. The first test I did was with a liquid stain that is the common stain for furniture. However it bled into the masking tape stencil and over the image. The steps are more clear through looking at the pictures, which I will post within the next couple days.

Duality Coincides

How to reconcile
How to divide
Where do they meet and
Where do they part

Delicately she caresses the earth,
Dancing in the sun
Viciously he scorches the sky,
Vaporizing the night

Destruction and creation
Deduction and addition
Make way for each other
Make torment for one and other

Their intercourse breeds,
Two worlds as one

Where do answers lie?
When duality coincides

Bird of Paradise

I had a Bird of Paradise
Her feathers scarlett red
Upon a flight just past my eyes
She lye down on my bed

My bones stand stiff and petrified
I don't know what to do
She points her talon at me
In a very suggestive queue

Our movements become instinctual
An animal's affair
I had a Bird of Paradise
A breed so beautiful and rare

Old Town Mall

I was out exploring the city today and I came across this derelict open air mall. It is in between Orleans St. and Ensor St.

The Ritual (Passing Down War To Another Generation)

The first collage in a series about youth and war. I plan on making a book out of it eventually. The prints will most likely be photo lithographs, but I haven't taken a class in lithography yet so I'll have to see if it would work out.
